What is the problem
Getting into touch typing can be frustrating because the cognitive load is too high. You have to map 40+ keys to 8 fingers. It’s easy to remember which hand to use for a key, but which finger to use in that hand? that’s much harder.
Instead of mapping each key to the hand that types it and then directly to the specific finger (by its position within that hand).
Example
I first map each finger position to a color.
And then memorize every key, not just as the character, but as a character and a color (that indicates which finger types it).
Now, when I’m trying to type a key, I can use its color to infer which finger types it.
Example
However, some keys are in different rows, that’s why i also memorize another piece of info. with each key:
how to reach it from the home row.
I’ll demonstrate this on the final left-hand visual.
Home Row keys
Upper Row keys
Lower Row keys
Numbers Row keys
